A Midsummers Night to Remember

On Wednesday 22nd November, Selby High School students performed an abridged version of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre in York.  It was a confident and colourful performance with an ABBA/80s theme. Following lunch time and after school rehearsals, the students brought the characters to life with enthusiasm and confidence drawing out the humour of this Shakespeare classic.

They had a long day, also attending a drama workshop at the York Dungeons, where they explored characters such as The Executioner’s Assistant, The Plague Doctor and The Judge.

The performance went well and there were many favorable comments from the Shakespeare Schools Foundation team. The students were also delighted to have Mr Hinchliffe in the audience! All the students were very well behaved and a credit to the school.
