Mathematics Enrichment Day

Monday saw us take 15 of our Year 11 mathematicians to an enrichment day at the University of Hull run by FMSP – Further Mathematics Support Programme. The FMSP run a number of days to extend and enrich the understanding of mathematics at KS4. The students were able to participate in activities that involved investigating the Mobius Strip, the probability of game shows, looking at alternative geometries and the theory and practice of juggling.

We all enjoyed the day, especially watching Colin Wright from Keele University juggling five balls whilst humorously explaining the theory behind it. The students actively participated in the day, and were excellent ambassadors for Selby High School.
