Premonition crowned Selby Battle of the Bands champions

Teenage rock band Premonition have been crowned Selby Battle of the Bands champions 2013.

In a nail-biting final in front of a packed audience at Selby Town Hall, Premonition came out on top after narrowly beating Tadcaster rockers Shupadom.

Premonition, made up of Selby High School GCSE students Robbie Cliffe (vocals), Ryan Mellor-Davies (lead guitar), Richy Jones (bass) and Max Shaw (drums) impressed the judges with their musicianship and stage craft as they delivered four of their own songs plus a cover version of Teenagers by My Chemical Romance.

As well as Shupadom, they were also up against Selby heavy metal band Eyes Upon A Ghost, Brayton High School's Rising of the Sun, and all-girl group Six Strings.

The winners are decided on a combination of audience votes and the judges' opinion - and Premonition triumphed after an exhilarating contest and received the Battle of the Bands trophy.

Their prize also includes a paid slot at the town's annual Family Fun Day outdoor concert on Sunday, June 16, and a day's recording courtesy of Selby College and Strange Reality Music Productions.

The band have already released their first CD, Blank Canvas, earlier this year.
