Results Day 2022

It was fantastic for Selby High staff to welcome year 11 students to receive their GCSE and Vocational Results this morning and to see so many smiling faces.  Following two years with no formal end of year examinations, the current year 11 cohort were the first to sit a full set of summer examinations since 2019.  The young people have dealt very well with the challenges of the last two years, and can be extremely proud of their achievements today.

Students performed well across the full range of subjects. Students from all different starting points made great progress, including in English and Maths, and this year we had our highest ever number of grade 8s and 9s across all subjects.  We had outstanding results in many subjects including Spanish, Science, Computer Science, Business, PE and Sports Studies, Engineering, Performing Arts, RE and Geography.

The highest performing students were Isabelle Megilley (9 grade 9s), Emma Brewer, Ashleigh Hayes, and Lauren Shuttleworth (8 grade 9s), and the students making most progress from their starting points included Joudi Alboush, Ryan Davies and Andrew Lin.

Principal Nick Hinchliffe said, “I’d like to pass on a huge congratulations to students and staff on their successes today with excellent performance across so many different subjects within the curriculum.  This year group has really felt the impact of the covid restrictions, and there have been challenges along the way, but our year 11 students have shown great maturity and resilience, and thoroughly deserve the excellent results that they have achieved today.”

Students are going on to a range of different colleges, apprenticeships and training providers and we wish them all the very best in their future choices.
