Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge

On Saturday morning of the 13th June 2015, Jane Ashworth, Curriculum Area Leader for Modern Languages set off to complete the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.  This was not only a personal challenge but was an excellent opportunity for Jane Ashworth  to raise money for Selby Hands of Hope.  Raising money for charity and making a contribution to the local community is an important aspect of the life of the school and one to which Jane Ashworth has now made a significant contribution with her efforts.  Jane Ashworth’s commitment in completing this challenge has also created an outstanding role model for the students in the school to follow.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge involved walking 25 miles over the summits of Ingleborough, Pen y Ghent and Whernside within 12 hours.  In the end Jane successfully completed the challenge in 10 hours and 28 minutes, even after falling on the decent of Ingleborrough.  Her efforts have raised over £230 so far.

Jane Ashworth’s donation page remains open for further donations and can be viewed at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/JaneAshworth. The work and contribution that Selby Hands of Hope makes in Selby can be seen at http://www.shoh.co.uk/What.html.  The school and Jane Ashworth would like to say thank you to all those who contributed to the local charity and supported not only Selby High but also Selby Hands of Hope.
